Very nice comfortable place. Coffee is fine and reasonably priced. Looks like an old pub inside. Lots of wing backed chairs etc.

Decided to come here for breakfast after seeing the great reviews. I was pretty disappointed though because my experience was only average.
The cafe isn't very big, but it does have a rustic cozy feel to it. The seats are quite comfy. There were a couple of tables occupied already, mostly people with their laptops. I was hoping to get some sweet pastry or maybe even try a cake after reading the other reviews, but the appearance of the cakes weren't very appealing to me, and the only croissant they had was savoury.
In the end, I had the London fog and sausage roll at the cafe, and took a chocolate chai to go since I wanted to try more items. The London fog was the most underwhelming one I've ever had. I could barely taste the earl grey even after letting the teabag steep for 20 minutes. The pastry of the sausage roll was quite nice, being light and buttery, but the filling didn't taste anything special. The best out of the three was the chocolate chai. The spices gave nice heat to the drink, good for a cold snowy day.
I don't think I'll be coming back. -

I really enjoy coming here!! The service is good, albeit some strange music choices at times, but overall good vibe. This is one of the only cafes I have found that is actually conducive to studying, the lighting is good, its cozy, and relatively quiet generally every time I go.
The best item on the menu is the pea-not-bar. so so so good, I have brought them home many times for later because they really taste so good.
The other snacks are good, cookies are always fresh, croissants and scones are good as well. Overall, pretty good snacks
The tea is good, kind of like any other tea. They have a maple tea that's pretty good. The coffee is not too bad, its not super special, but it is never bad. They have nice specialty drinks, I actually prefer those to the tea and coffee, the London fog is good!
The only downfalls are that there is very little space, the chairs are super bulky and short so they're uncomfortable unless you get an armchair or are naturally very small. The tables are small and so I have to hunch over if I don't get an armchair (I am 5'11). There is also some dodgy characters sometimes who treat it like its their home (sleeping, feet on chairs, taking up chairs to drink a glass of water for HOURS). And I worry sometimes if the chairs are cleaned under the cushions (like do vacuum the crumbs and such out of them).
Overall I like it here and still go all the time because like I said, its so easy to concentrate in there when studying. -

I had the worst cup of tea in my life here
Mint Yeba mate, tasted like nothing but (giant) tea bag, there was hardly any actual tea in it, i asked for a small and they gave me a huge cup, which accounted for most of the insipidness, I was so ticked I returned it all the way from Yonge & Eg, and the woman behind the counter only offered me a replacement (really?? would YOU want another?) and nothing else. So, I write this story.
Mind you, they do have one of the most beautiful coffee machines in the city though. -

All-around great; this is my preferred place for coffee in Toronto. Excellent coffee and tea (ask for a top-up of hot water), great pastries (I love their cheesecake with cherry jam on top), and some savoury lunch options as well. Staff is super-friendly, and the place is open late. The only complaint is that the space is pretty tight, and it can be difficult to get a seat. But one can't really blame this place for being popular.
